The Little Royal Road Sticker
The Little Royal Road Sticker
A homage to the Sunnyvale stretch of the ol' Grand Boulevard itself: El Camino Real.
Serving as THE major east-west thoroughfare in Sunnyvale, El Camino was and is an important economic corridor in our city. It is a vital space undergoing constant evolution as evidenced by the distinctive styles of architecture you see along it: from mid- 20th-century road-side eateries (check out the style of building Pho Nam is in); to big-box strip malls and auto dealerships; to contemporary hotels, offices and apartments.
Let's give a little love to our Royal Road!
Drafted following the exact highway sign specifications as described in the code G28-2 State Shield for Independent Use design guideline (from 1971 no less!), and using a period accurate typeface, this was a fun research and design project. Whom among us doesn't love a nicely crafter road sign?
The curving line that runs through the sign represents the path the road takes through our sunny city!
